On Even More Marriage

Holy crap! I've been married for more than a year! Our anniversary was this past Thursday. I have to say, more things have happened in this past year than I expected. Here are a few things that have gone down in this past year. I'll try to get them in order.

1. I worked at a call center. Yeah. Not something I ever anticipated doing, but you do what you've gotta do.

2. Nancy had a really crappy teaching job. I've gotta say, it definitely does not make me want to work at a charter school. I'm sure there are good ones out there, but this one sucks.

3. I became a substitute teacher. Again. I really hope that I never have to do that again, and I think that if it comes down to it again, I'll come back to Korea rather than do more subbing. It was awesome to have Nancy supporting me through all of that, though!

4. We accepted a job teaching English in south Korea. It was a big decision, but I don't regret it. It's been awesome so far.

5. I broke yet another bone while canyoneering. This time it was in my hand. I should really stop doing that. Yesterday, like four months after the injury, I finally picked up a guitar for the first time and now my ring finger is handicapped. It will take some training to get it back to its former glory. Nancy was super helpful for all the time I had my hand in a cast. That's just another reason why being married is awesome.

6. We moved to South Korea. It's been an awesome experience! It's especially been really great because Nancy and I get to spend so much time together. We work in the same place and we live together and we go and do everything together. It's sweet.

Overall, I would sum up my first year of marriage in the words of one of my former bishops: "Being married doesn't stuck, does it?" He was right. It doesn't. It is, in fact, amazing. And with that, I'll bring this post to an end. This Is Captain Danger out.

On Other Blogs

Well, actually, just one. For those playing along at home, Nancy and I have started a new blog telling about what we do in Korea. I won't delete this one or anything, but I'll be writing a lot more on the other one (like at least twice a week as compared to never) and while it isn't my usual snarky commentary on random crap, it's still a pretty fun read in my opinion. Just letting anyone who hasn't already seen know. Check it out! cliffandnancy.blogspot.com. That's all I've got for the moment. This is Captain Danger out.

On More Marriage

So, back from my long hiatus, I have chosen, once again, that I should deign to post on this blog. Will anyone really care? The odds are fairly low. Is there really a good reason? Well, my wife did indicate that we should start a blog (since we're going to be going to Korea sometime this summer and staying there for a year to teach English). I thought to myself, Hey, Captain Danger, you have a perfectly good blog already. You know, you really haven't done anything with that for months now. It is also a pretty awesome blog, as far as blogs go. I mean, what other blog finishes every post (with a few exceptions) with a picture of you? Yeah, that's about how that inner conversation went down. Yes, I do make parenthetical remarks to myself. In fact, parenthetical just became the word of the day. At any rate, here I am. Am I going to talk about anything? Maybe. You know what I've noticed? A lot of people think that they shouldn't get married because it will cramp their style and they won't do as many cool things. News flash: I'm pretty sure that I have done more cool things since I got married. Now I always have someone to do cool things with! My wife and I have been all over Utah doing cool stuff, be it canyoneering, climbing, river rafting, I was going to say "You name it," but that wouldn't really work, because odds are you'd name something pretty fast that we haven't done. However, the fact remains that we have done a lot of awesome stuff together, and this is just the beginning! Granted, I'm pretty sure that the rumor about kids cramping your style is probably true. That remains to be seen (In the future. The far-off future.). At any rate, I think that's about all I have to say today. I'll end this post in the usual manner.

On Marriage

So, let me just say, to start with, that marriage is awesome! Especially marriage to my awesome wife. It's been just over a month now, and it's interesting how we keep noticing that all of our friends keep on copying the things we did at our wedding. Yeah, that's right, we're classy. At any rate, I think that's all I've got to say at the moment. I'd end this post with a photo of my and Nancy, but unfortunately I'm at work and can't access any photos. But, here's a link with a bunch of photos. This is Captain Danger out.

On Being Sore

Why? I could finish this post with that, but I won't. It's day four of Cliff kicking his butt week, and so far, so good, though, as I mentioned, I am ridiculously sore. I have gone on four runs, gone on three hikes, and yesterday when I donated plasma I weighed 239! What now? I haven't seen a scale reading that low since like 2006! So, things are looking up, and I am looking awesome. That being said, I make an end for this post.

On Having Time on My Hands

So, I'm down to less than four weeks until my wedding. Am I excited? That could be an understatement. However, it's recently dawned on me (there may have been some prodding involved) that if I want to look more awesome than usual for my wedding, I'm going to need to get my butt in gear. So, as I'm going to be having a lot of time on my hands this week, as my fiance is working an all-day-and-into-the-evening job, I hereby pledge to the Internet (I've already told her) that I will get my butt into gear this week and will hopefully keep it in gear the following weeks. This week I pledge that I will go running every day (pre-determined routes) and on days when I have time (ostensibly every day, but maybe not Thursday) I will hike up into the mountains for several hours. I will not make an inordinate pig of myself at meals and I will, overall, continue to be awesome. That being said, I make an end of this post.

On Broken Fingers

Another brief post stating that broken fingers tend to take away a lot of the fun things that I can do. Playing guitar is one example. Rock climbing is another. Just sayin'. Anyway, that's all I've got for today. I make an end.
